Art museum in 15th-century convent housing Renaissance frescoes & 16th-century painting collection.via Google

프라 안젤리코가 수도사들의 기숙사 벽에 직접 섬세한 프레스코화를 그린 조용하고 사색적인 도미니크 수도원입니다.

Good to know
군중을 피해 도피하기에 탁월한 장소로, 매우 평화로운 분위기입니다.

Fra Angelico (1395–1455) was a Dominican friar and artist, considered a pioneer in the development of the early renaissance movement. His art marked the transition between the medieval and renaissance styles in painting. He was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 1983, now referred to as Beato Angelico. He is considered the patron saint of Catholic artists. His most famous artistic project was his fresco work for the San Marco Dominican convent in Firenze, which was funded by the Medici family. Currently on exhibition in Firenze is a retrospective of his life’s work, shown both at San Marco as well as the Palazzo Strozzi, which we attended over a two-day period. It was extraordinary!

I visited the second part of the beato angelico exibition located in the museo san marco which I visited the first time few years ago , the upper floor is amazingly delightful with many different frescos monks cells decorated from beato angelico . worth mentioning also the temporary exibition of the beato angelico downstairs full of collected pieces of altarpieces dedicated to beato angelico, groups and citizens have to book mandatory by phone call because the entrance is for small groups. the operative museal team work is very friendly and available . worth visiting.

Amazing place, well spent money and 2 h. The frescoes in the monastery in a perfect shape. Also paintings of Beato Angelico are all renovated. Worth buying tickets in advance as you might need to wait 20-30 min just to get to the ticket office.

Just wonderful. More beautiful than expected. ♡ A place so connected with the history of Florence and the prescence of all the people devoted to prayer through history. The highlight on my visit to Florence. The Annunciation by Fra Angelico was stunning. 🙏✨️

The monastery in which Kelli Savonarola was located, there are many ascetic cells in the monastery, incredible frescoes on the walls. It was Marco Rothko exhibition there during our visit.
